Now — Winter / Spring 2025
A now page is an occasionally updated summary of what I'm working on, what I’m up to, and what I'm thinking about. Check out Derek Siver's page for more context.
Covering @December 1, 2024 to @May 31, 2025.
After six months of freelancing following my time at incident.io, I’m off on a six month sabbatical. Freelancing brought a lot of freedom — the autonomy to drive pace within a small team, especially in the fast-paced world of crypto. It was a refreshing change, but it’s clear that it’s not my long-term path.
To kick things off, I’m spending ten weeks travelling solo across Japan. My focus is on slow travel, intentionally veering off the well-worn "Golden Route", and immersing myself in Japan’s hiking trails. It's a purposeful slowdown, part of a broader effort to step back from the everyday.
I’m also addressing a long-standing ITB knee injury, by reintroducing running into my routine to explore whilst travelling. Surprisingly, photography has become a joy too. Having felt uninspired by the familiar streets of London, I’m now capturing daily.
Next is a road trip through Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Namibia, to South Africa. From there, I’ll cross the Atlantic to drive coast-to-coast from San Francisco to New York in a van, taking the scenic route.
After spending a decade in London’s startup ecosystem, I’m grateful for the ability to pause. Space to reflect on where I want to put down roots next, what I want to focus on in my career, and how to approach the ever-changing landscape of AI and its effects. This is a moment to recharge and recalibrate.
